Due to bad weather on the continent, and here, they were a bit slow to arrive this year, but during the last few days of good weather they are back in town and giving amazing displays at The Waterfront area in Stade Street.
They are around most of the day, as this early group will be nesting locally in the same nest with the same partner as in previous years. They will need to stay local if the weather permits, but they do sometimes vanish during the day to get food elsewhere. The best time to see them though is in the evenings, after 7pm on a warm sunny day and up to about 9:15 if it’s a bright evening. The display tonight was spectacular! I counted 16 at one point. You simply can’t miss this experience!
